NightRelay Support
NightRelay is an iPhone app for two adult caregivers coordinating newborn care. Record feeds, sleep, diapers and notes, plan the next handoff, and see who last explicitly accepted responsibility. The app interface is currently English.
Set up your household
- Sign in to iCloud in iPhone Settings.
- Open NightRelay and create your household with your name and your baby's first name or nickname.
- Open Household → Invite partner / manage access. Send the private invitation only to your intended caregiver.
- Your partner opens the invitation on their iPhone using their own iCloud account and joins with their own name.
NightRelay supports one household and two caregivers. It requires iOS 17 or later. The sample household lets you explore the app without creating cloud records.
Log care quickly
Tap Log care, choose Feed, Sleep, Diaper or Note, then save. Bottle amounts are optional; the amount buttons record what you select, not a feeding recommendation. Entries default to the time you save. Choose Change to record an earlier time. A running sleep timer can be ended from Log care or the journal.
Complete a handoff
The outgoing caregiver requests a handoff. The incoming caregiver opens the recap, confirms they are taking over and accepts. Until the shared save is confirmed, the previous caregiver remains listed as responsible. A planned time alone never transfers responsibility.
NightRelay is not a baby monitor, alarm or emergency service. It does not verify that a caregiver is awake, deliver critical alerts, or provide medical advice. Use your agreed direct contact method when a handoff is not confirmed.
When information has not synced
New care entries are saved on your iPhone first. “Not shared yet” means your partner may not have received the change. Open Household → Refresh shared information after reconnecting. Keep both phones online and open the app to receive current information. If the iCloud account changes or access is removed, local data is retained for review and export.
NightRelay Together and purchases
Care logging, reading history and exporting records remain available without a paid plan. Household coordination includes 14 free days from the second caregiver joining. This household trial does not require a purchase and never auto-renews into a paid plan.
After the trial, a NightRelay Together plan is required to start new handoffs. One purchase covers both caregivers in that household. Existing pending handoffs can still finish. Available plans and localized prices are shown by the App Store in the app.
The monthly subscription renews until canceled through Apple. The six-month pass is a non-renewing purchase lasting six calendar months from purchase. Restore with the purchasing Apple account from Household → Explore NightRelay Together → Restore purchases. Do not buy a second plan if Apple confirms a purchase but household syncing is still pending.
Cancel monthly renewal in Apple subscription settings. Deleting the app or household does not cancel an Apple subscription. Request refunds through Apple Report a Problem.
Export, correct or delete records
Open a journal entry to add a correction; the earlier wording remains in history. Export all household data from Household before clearing local records. Clearing the local copy also removes unsynced changes from that phone. The household owner can delete the entire cloud household or manage sharing access. Deleting cloud data cannot erase a partner's saved exports or cached copies.
