SplitJoy Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 30, 2026
SplitJoy is an iPhone and iPad app for recording group expenses, reading receipts, splitting items among participants, and calculating settlements. This policy explains the data the app uses and your choices.
Summary
- No account required: SplitJoy does not require sign-up or login.
- Stored on your device: trip data and receipt records are saved locally.
- No advertising or tracking: the current release contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or cross-app tracking.
- Apple handles purchases: SplitJoy does not receive your payment card details.
Data You Add
SplitJoy may store trip names and dates, participant names, expense descriptions and amounts, currencies and user-entered exchange rates, payment and split assignments, receipt images, recognized receipt text, settlement records, and app preferences. This information remains in the app’s local storage on your device.
Receipt Photos, Camera, and Apple Intelligence
You can take a receipt photo or choose one from your photo library. Apple Vision recognizes text on the device. On supported devices, Apple’s on-device Foundation Models may help organize the recognized text into an editable receipt draft. SplitJoy does not send receipt images or receipt text to a developer-operated server. Always review the draft before saving.
Optional Voice Assignment
If you choose voice assignment, SplitJoy requests microphone and Speech Recognition permission. Recognition is configured to run on the device. Audio is used for the live assignment session and is not saved by SplitJoy.
Sharing and PDF Export
SplitJoy creates text summaries and PDFs locally. Information leaves the app only when you choose a destination in the iOS share sheet. The destination app or service applies its own privacy practices.
In-App Purchases
Monthly and yearly SplitJoy Pro subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. SplitJoy checks Apple-provided purchase entitlement information to unlock Pro. We do not collect payment card information.
Data Collection and Tracking
The developer does not collect personal data from SplitJoy, use the app’s data for advertising, or track you across apps and websites. Apple may process App Store purchases and standard platform diagnostics under Apple’s policies and your device settings.
Your Choices
- Deny or revoke camera, photo library, microphone, or speech recognition access in iOS Settings.
- Edit or delete records inside SplitJoy.
- Delete SplitJoy to remove its locally stored data from the device, subject to any device backups you control.
- Choose whether to use the free plan or purchase Pro.
Children’s Privacy
SplitJoy is a general-audience expense utility and is not directed to children under 13. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app changes. The revised policy will appear here with a new effective date.
