Scan finds fewer duplicates than expected
Open Settings → Detection sensitivity. Strict only matches near-identical images,
Balanced is the default, and Loose catches edits, crops, and burst shots. Try Balanced or
Loose if you suspect duplicates were missed.
Scan looks slow on a large library
The first scan computes fingerprints for every photo and stores them locally so future
scans are much faster. Pro adds Vision verification and quality ranking, which is also
cached. Keep the app open and the device awake during the first scan.
Smart AI Scan is locked
Free users get a limited number of full scans before the AI features lock. If you used
them already, open the Pro upgrade screen to subscribe or buy lifetime access, or restore
purchases if you already paid.
Storage did not free up after deleting
iOS moves deleted photos to the Recently Deleted album for 30 days. To reclaim storage
now, open Photos → Albums → Recently Deleted, then Select → Delete All. The
in-app banner after a delete provides a one-tap shortcut to Photos.
Restore Purchases did not unlock Pro
Use Restore Purchases inside PhotoDeDupe and confirm you are signed in to the Apple ID
that made the original purchase. If the issue continues, email support with the product
you bought and your device details.
Background scan never seems to run
iOS schedules background processing tasks based on device usage and charging state. The
app requests a scan every few hours, but iOS decides when to run it. Foreground scans
from the Home screen are always available.
Cancelling the iOS delete dialog shows an error
Tapping Don't Allow on the iOS Photos delete prompt is treated as a cancel and not an
error. The app suppresses these cancellations silently. If you see a real error message,
please share it with support.
Reset fingerprint cache
Settings → About → Reset fingerprint cache deletes all cached image
fingerprints. The next scan will take longer because every photo will be hashed again.
Use this only if duplicate results look incorrect.
